Max VS Ducko (Galaxy Video) Fan Blog

“I think the success of a talk show depends on how true it is to the personality of the person hosting it. The shows I really admire, like 'Oprah' and 'Ellen,' are distinctively like their hosts, so I think my show will be successful only if we try to stay consistent to my own sense of myself” - Jane Pauley

Max; the guy with a star on his shirt.

Ducko; the duck with sunglasses.

Most vs-shows have two hosts, and eventually those shows have those hosts fight. Now that hasn’t happened yet for most shows, only Not-Death Battle has done it so far, but it is still an inevitability. One of the most iconic vs shows is Multiverse Match unless you’re a casual who just watches CFC, and their hosts, Max and Ducko, are equally iconic. Anyway, here’s who I think would win, I guess… Y-You get the theme, I don’t need to explain this to you!

Before We Start…

For this “match”, we will primarily be focusing on the feats and abilities of their avatars/fictional personas. I’ll be using feats from the various videos posted on the channel Galaxy Video, Max’s second channel, Max’s twitter, Ducko’s channel, Fictional Fisticuffs, and these 3 videos.

Special thanks to the G1 blog for Macho Man vs Kool Aid Man, the G1^2 blog for Freddy Krueger vs Pennywise, the G1^2 blog for Crypto vs Zim, and the Max and Friends Feat Doc.

Background

Max

Deliveryman "Mad" Max Grabelski is charged with delivering packages to millionaire Reinhart Bragdon for $50 tips. During a late night delivery, Max accidentally stumbles across a fire in Bragdon's mansion and is cornered by FBI Agent Palmer , but accidentally picks up Agent Palmer's gun and manages to escape. Max later sees a news report in which Palmer claims that Bragdon was killed in the fire, which was set up by Max to stop him from exposing a money-laundering conspiracy. Now on the run from the law, Max contacts his boss and learns that a final package is to be delivered to Bragdon, but at his mountain cabin in Devil's Peak.

Max heads for Devil's Peak to clear his name, but a store clerk and scoutmaster Jack Ericksonrecognize his face and he is forced to threaten both with his gun, gluing Erickson to his car's steering wheel and ordering him to drive off to lure the police away while stealing Erickson's van. He is subsequently mistaken for a scoutmaster scheduled to lead a group of Ranger Scouts (consisting of five boys and one girl) on an expedition. Max goes along with the ruse to keep heading for Devil's Peak. The FBI find and release Erickson, and set up a base of operations at a nearby cabin while Palmer and Erickson pursue Max and the scouts. Though they are nearly captured, Max cuts the bridge between two cliffs, forcing Palmer and Erickson to take the longer route.

Along the way, the scouts become curious of Max's unorthodox capabilities as a scout leader. They build a makeshift radio and learn who Max truly is. They lace his water with sleeping pills and use smoke signs to signal their location to Erickson. Max ends up sedated, but Palmer handcuffs Erickson to a tree and captures Max alone, promising the scouts a rescue helicopter, but the suspicious scouts follow in secret. Max awakens and Palmer leads him to a helicopter, where Max discovers Bragdon is alive; he then reveals that he is a criminal and that Palmer is one of his henchman posing a FBI agent and their plan was to steal the laundered money from the authorities and Bragdon faking his death after coming under suspicion in order to frame Max. Before they can kill Max, the scouts intervene and knock Palmer out, but Max falls into the river and the scouts follow to rescue him and escape the criminals. They reach safety before going over a waterfall and throw their backpacks in the river to drive Palmer and Bragdon off. Out of supplies, the scouts decide to remain with Max, accepting him as their scout leader and help him reach Devil's Peak. Meanwhile, one of the scouts' mothers, Mrs. Patterson uncovers Max's discarded tissue and realizes that he is leading them to Devil's Peak, and gives chase in her van when Palmer's bumbling assistant, Agent McMurrey, refuses to help her. She arrives first, but is captured by Bragdon.

After scaling the treacherous mountainside, Max and the scouts finally arrive as Bragdon receives the final package. Palmer catches up and prepares to kill them, but is subdued by Erickson, who freed himself and followed Max. Erickson tells Max that he needs to have a serious talk with him for taking the scouts in his place, Max sneaks into the cabin to free Mrs. Patterson while Erickson and the scouts glue Palmer to a tree as payback for handcuffing Erickson to the tall tree. Bragdon appears and forces Max and Mrs. Peterson to the edge of the cliff at gunpoint. Mrs. Patterson's son, Gordy, charges Bragdon but falls over a cliff and hangs onto a branch for his life. Max knocks Bragdon out by punching his dentures out of his mouth and climbs down the cliff and pulls Gordy to safety just before the branch falls away.

With Bragdon and Palmer captured, Max's name is cleared and in response to his efforts, he is awarded a Ranger Scout Leader honor and given charge of an even bigger group of scouts for a more challenging mission, much to his surprise and chagrin.

Ducko

Duck is the common name for numerous species of waterfowl in the family Anatidae. Ducks are generally smaller and shorter-necked than swans and geese, which are members of the same family. Divided among several subfamilies, they are a form taxon; they do not represent a monophyletic group (the group of all descendants of a single common ancestral species), since swans and geese are not considered ducks. Ducks are mostly aquatic birds, and may be found in both freshwater and seawater.

Ducks are sometimes confused with several types of unrelated water birds with similar forms, such as loons or divers, grebes, gallinules and coots.

Experience & Skill

Max

Max doesn’t really fight, the only instance being his short fight with Ducko. That being said, he is capable of matching Ducko in skill.

Ducko

Ducko’s actually been in a couple fights. Fighting against a samurai, Max, and Larrywinwood (albeit that one was one sided).

Equipment

Max

Shrek Sword

Max used this sword (with a Shrek face?) to sword fight Ducko.

TV

Max is shown here next to a TV… He can probably throw it at Ducko idk…

Guitar

Max is seen possessing a guitar and a great looking jacket. Idk, maybe he can hit Ducko on the head with it?

Powerglove

Max is seen possessing the Power Glove, specifically the movie version which actually does help your gaming experience.

Fenton Thermos

Max is seen possessing a Fenton Thermos, which can suck up any ghost.

Zim suit & Irken PAK

Max is seen wearing Zim’s suit and possessing his Irken PAK (the backpack). The Irken PAK is wired to the user’s brain and monitors their mind, restoring their mental state if it’s altered. It can make a force field, binoculars, metal arms, laser guns, grid lasers and a jetpack.

Chainsaw Hand

Max has a chainsaw hand and it looks awesome on him.

Freddy Krueger Claw

Max has a claw hand similar to Freddy Krueger. However, there is nothing to imply that he has Freddy’s powers as well.

Auryn

The powerful medallion from The Neverending Story 3, this medallion can grant any wish the user has. He can wish you to be dead, turn you “nasty”, wish for fighting skills, literally anything he wants. However, it can be taken from him physically.

Ducko

Hammer

Ducko used this hammer to hit Max across the face… It probably hurt…

Freddy Fazbear Body Pillow

Ducko used this body pillow to sword fight Max.

Ms. Frizzle Outfit

Makes him look dapper.

Magnet

Can pull metal objects towards him.

Abilities

Max

T-1000 Physiology

Max has the same physiology as the T-1000, this allows him to control his body shape, disguise as other people, regenerate wounds, and reform himself. However, he can be frozen or melted down.

Cloning

Max has the ability to make an identical clone of himself as seen in the Trickster vs Max Grabelski Galaxy Grudge Match. This clone should have all the same abilities Max has.

Hammerspace

He can summon objects from out of nowhere.

Ducko

Super Quack

Ducko can quack so hard that it can send someone flying.

Kamehameha

Ducko can fire a kamehameha.

Immortality/Resurrection

Ducko can effectively retcon his death by saying “No”.

Goose Rider Form

Ducko can turn into a form that bears resemblance to Goose Rider. However, the powers of this form are unknown. It’s even unclear if he has access to Ghost Rider powers in this form.

Hammerspace

He can summon objects from out of nowhere.

Gumby Physiology

Ducko has the same physiology as the popular character Gumby. This allows him to reform his body, turn into vehicles, turn into tinier versions of him, and even grow giant.

Kool Aid Man Physiology

Ducko also has the same physiology as the Kool-Aid Man. This gives him powers such as:

Time Manipulation: He can reverse time, fast forward time, time travel, and stop time entirely.

BFR: transport people to theKool-Aid Beach dimension, and could potentially transport them anywhere.

Transmutation: turn various objects and landmasses into various Kool-Aid-themed products, even the Earth itself.

Object Possession: inhabit any inanimate objects

Mind Manipulation: can turn bullies into nice people, and even read minds

Size Manipulation: Can turn giant

Shapeshifting: You’re not a dumb fuck, you know what shapeshifting means!

Healing Tears: Can resurrect people with tears

Cloning: Can summon other Kool-Aid versions of himself, and split himself into miniature versions of himself

Muppet Physiology

Turns him into an adorable, marketable plushie that teaches children the alphabet!

Pennywise Physiology

Ducko also has the same physiology as Pennywise. This gives him powers such as:

Manipulation: can make people more violent and homophobic

Shapeshifting: can turn into anything, which can also heal him

Feeding on fear: fear can increase his powers. Unfortunately for him though, Max likes horror movies so good luck.

Illusion creation: You can figure out this one on your own. What do you think he can create?!?

Reality Warping: this ability can do a lot like; changing the layout of the environment, materializing objects out of thin air, teleporting, bringing pictures to life, creating hostile creatures, giving people illnesses, controlling technology, entering photos or televisions, and making people float. However, this is all psychosomatic and won’t be real if the person being affected knows it’s all fake.

Deadlights: Sends you to It’s true form…. Wait, does this mean Ducko has a true form?!?

  • Survived falling from an undetermined height (street level)

  • Survived a castle exploding (city block to town level)

Weaknesses

Max

Max’s greatest weakness is maybe his lack of combat experience. Outside of that, he’s a pretty average guy.

Ducko

Larry’s beatdown Ducko doesn’t have too many weaknesses. If anything, he’s pretty normal. Well, if anything he has no experience using the powers he gets from his GGM forms, so it might take him a while to figure out how to use them mid-fight.

Before the Verdicts

Where are the other GGM costumes?

(outversal Ducko?)

Throughout the blog, both Max and Ducko have been given various abilities from the costumes they wear in Galaxy Grudge Match. However, some of these costumes have been excluded. Why, you ask? Because there’s nothing to indicate these are nothing more than costumes. The costumes that were included, all involved a piece of equipment being shown in their possession, or showed their physiology affected in a way that implies they should have their powers.

Verdict

So initially, one would think Ducko should easily stat-stomp Max. Max’s best feat on his own is surviving a fall that is at best street level, Ducko, meanwhile, survived an entire castle exploding which ranges from city block to town level. In terms of speed, Max is at best around peak human with his rapid punches, but Ducko has broken the sound barrier, giving him a clear speed advantage. So, Ducko should stat stomp Max, right? No. Max and Ducko have fought each other before, being dead even, the fight proving that they are physically even. This includes speed, durability and strength. So whatever power or speed feats Ducko has, Max should scale to. While it can be inferred that Ducko’s Goose Rider form potentially increases his power, nothing is known about it so it practically does nothing. So stats are not a factor in this mu.

Both of them are around even in skill, as they were shown to be fairly equal to each other in the Max vs Ducko video. But Ducko still has more combat experience, making him possibly more strategic in a fight like this. The Ducko vs Larry video also makes it so that Ducko can take punishment better whereas Max will more likely take longer to recuperate. Ducko has also technically fought opponents with a wider arsenal than Max, so he’ll be more adapted to fighting someone with wacky abilities as opposed to Max.

When it comes to arsenal and abilities, the debate gets more interesting. Both can use hammerspace to pull out any part of their arsenal instantly, so it comes down to who has the better gear. Ducko has the body pillow, the hammer, and the magnet. Not too bad, but in comparison to Max, it’s practically nothing. While his chainsaw hand and freddy claw are just normal weapons, the Irken PAK gives Max a wide array of abilities. Max can now fly, shoot lasers, generate force fields, etc. Ducko doesn’t have anything in his arsenal to keep up, making Max have the better arsenal. But when it comes to abilities, it’s the opposite story. Super-Quack and the Kamehameha are neat abilities, allowing Ducko to keep Max from being too close to him and also allowing him to attack from a distance. Max’s T-1000 physiology is good, but Ducko has him not only matched but surpassed with his Gumby physiology. Ducko’s Gumby physiology is actually better since it allows him to grow giant, make vehicles, and create clones. And Ducko has a good counter against Max-1000 with his magnet, allowing him to ragdoll Max as much as he wants. Both of them can clone themselves, but Max has the better ones. Ducko can only make clones of his Kool Aid Forms or smaller Gumby forms, but Max can make exact clones of himself that aren’t restricted to a specific version of him, allowing his clones to have an exact copy of the arsenal and abilities of the original Max. Max’s clones are more varied due to that and are therefore more useful than Ducko’s clones, which he can only summon in specific forms. Ducko’s Pennywise powers initially seem like a game changer, but they surprisingly aren’t. Pennywise’s mental manipulation will be detected by the Irken PAK, so that’s out of the question. And as for the other powers, they all really rely on how afraid their opponent is. Pennywise has had way more experience scaring people, people who had no idea what they were dealing with and were essentially helpless. Ducko, on the other hand, has no experience with scaring others and he’ll be going up against someone who knows the exact limitations of Pennywise’s powers. Ducko’s deadlights could be helpful, but they require Ducko to restrain Max long enough to pull them off. The Pennywise form also makes Ducko weaker to some extent as any attack that Max believes could hurt Ducko, will hurt Ducko, in fact it’s a point that was brought up a lot in the GGM that gave Ducko this form. Ducko’s Kool-Aid Man physiology is a real game changer, being able to BFR Max, turn the environment into Kool-Aid, and even change his size. But most importantly, control time. This allows Ducko to slow down time, potentially giving him a speed advantage, or even freeze time, making it so that Ducko can attack Max as long as he wants without anything to stop him. Also Ducko potentially has Kool-Aid Man’s immortality in this form, making it so that he literally can’t die as long as Kool-Aid exists in the world. What’s crazier is how that’s not even the only type of immortality that Ducko has, as he can just say “no” to his death and come back. Ducko’s immortality is a good counter against Max, allowing him to come back from practically anything Max throws at him. Max can’t physically kill Ducko at all and this means that Ducko can just wait out all of Max’s attacks until Max is too exhausted to continue. With these abilities, it seems like Ducko should easily win right? … Well, there’s one part of the debate I’ve avoided mentioning until now: The Auryn. With the medallion, Max can literally end the fight whenever he wants. Max can wish for Ducko to never have existed, for Ducko to be sent to another dimension, for his own stats to far eclipse Ducko’s, for him to be immortal, etc… The Auryn has a counter to literally anything Ducko has. Ducko’s Kool-Aid Man powers? Max wishes that Kool-Aid never existed. Pennywise powers? Max wishes that he is incapable of fear. Gumby powers? Max wishes that everything made of clay is destroyed. But can Ducko’s immortality counter the Auryn? Can Ducko just say “no” to its effects? No. Ducko’s immortality only shows him being able to come back from physical attacks, never one does it have a counter to reality warping attacks. To assume that Ducko can just say “no” to anything is a No Limits Fallacy and while it is possible to resist the Auryn’s power, Ducko doesn’t have anything that can do that. All of this makes it so that Max’s Auryn is a near-perfect wincon that practically ensures that he wins no matter what.

Well, “near-perfect”. There’s one major flaw with the Auryn: it can be taken from the user. If Ducko can get the Auryn out of Max’s hands before he can complete his wish, Ducko can then use it against Max. But to do that, Ducko first has to close the distance between Max before he can act, something he likely can’t do without a speed advantage. However, his Kool-Aid form can slow and even freeze time, allowing him to easily take it. All Ducko needs to do to win, is to just freeze time and then his victory is practically ensured. One thing that is important to note is how both Max and Ducko know about the other’s capabilities, they’re friends for god’s sake. And their most useful abilities and items are from videos that they have seen and commented on. Ducko would be aware of Max’s Auryn while Max would be aware of Ducko’s Kool Aid Man powers. So it really comes down to who can pull off their wincon quicker and honestly it’s tough. We don’t really know how fast it would take for Ducko to transition to his Kool-Aid Man form, but if we infer it takes the same amount of time as his Goose Rider transformation (far-fetched assumption aside), so maybe around 1-2 seconds. It’s only after those 1-2 seconds that Ducko can use his time stop powers, however it may take him longer to use that ability as he never has used that ability before. Ducko will need some time to learn how exactly he can use Kool-Aid Man’s powers, something that is true for all of Ducko’s forms as while he has the abilities, he’s never used them before. So not only does the transformation give Max a window, but Ducko’s own lack of experience with his powers potentially gives Max an even wider opportunity to act. Max, on the other hand, knows exactly what to do with the Auryn: He just has to say he wishes Ducko dead. That doesn’t take long, if your life's on the line, you can scream “I wish you dead” pretty damn quickly. It’s because of this that I believe Max wins.

While Ducko is more experienced, has better abilities, and is more suited for a longer fight, he’s not able to win in a quickdraw when this fight inevitably comes to it.

Conclusion

Max

Ah, yes. Notoriously bloodthirsty Lightning Mcqueen will see what essentially looks like a corpse to him and think, ‘Something’s fishy’ and proceed to beat the shit out of it!”

Advantages:

+ Has a wider arsenal

+ The Auryn allows him to instantly win and counter most of Ducko’s abilities…

+ The Irken PAK allows him to resist mental attacks

+ Clones are better

+ T-1000 physiology allows him to regenerate from damage

+ Would be able to pull off his wincon quicker

+ Fictional Fisticuffs & Spooky Showdown

+ Has the better GGM win:loss ratio (8:8)

+ Has edited for Death Battle

Equal:

= stats

= fighting skill

= Multiverse Match & Galaxy Grudge Match

= was in the stretch royale

Disadvantages:

- has less abilities

- … but Ducko could take it and use it for himself

- No Combat experience

- has no defense against Ducko’s time manipulation

- Magnets would be a counter to the T1000

- …. But Ducko’s Gumby powers do the same thing but better

- Character vs Character

- Honestly, it’s not even bad but whatever

- Didn’t like the Sharktopus movies (big L, they’re peak fiction)

Ducko

The terror that faps- no, FLAPS in the night!”

Advantages:

+ Has more abilities

+ Has more combat experience

+ Immortality/regeneration is hard to negate

+ Max has no counter to the time manipulation abilities

+ His magnet will be able to capture Max if he turns into the T1000

+ Gumby powers allow him to regenerate

+ Has taken extensive beatings, making him better suited for longer fights

+ Perfect Character Design

+ He’s just the best

+ Matchup Gaiden

  • Sure it’s not out yet, but I don’t care. This is the most hyped I’ve been for a long time.

Equal:
= stats

= fighting skill

= Multiverse Match & Galaxy Grudge Match

= was in the stretch royale

Disadvantages:

- Max’s Auryn pretty much counters everything Ducko has and can one shot him

- Has a smaller arsenal

- Might take longer to understand how to use his abilities

- Clones are limited by just being the Kool-Aid Duckos or tiny Gumby Duckos

- Has the worse GGM win:loss ratio(4:9)

- His first argument for Dom Torretto in the Twisted Metal Battle Royale is so bad

- Had to watch another duck die 🙁

- In a badass fight 😎

Overall, this mu is surprisingly. Stats were a nonfactor and both could counter the majority of each other’s arsenal and abilities. However, Max’s Auryn easily beat anything Ducko has and Max was more likely to be able to use it before Ducko could stop him, making him the most likely winner. Ducko may have been a most fowl opponent, but Max gull to face and quack up his opponent. Maybe next time, Ducko will duck for cover. The winner is Max.

I’m too lazy to photoshop a winner screen, f*ck you.
