Tonya, number 14 from Breathing Room

Elvis, the podcast host from On The Line

Let's see who will win this battle between two manipulative, death game protagonists who were the masterminds the whole time!

Before we start

For this blog we will use the movie “Breathing room” for Tonya and the movie “On the Line” for Elvis, we will also give them access to their allies. In case you’re wondering how this works out in the context of both stories, it’s like if halfway through the plot of “On the Line”, Elvis and Dylan stumbled into the infamous room from “Breathing Room” and then both sides started to throw down.

Background

Tonya

Tonya woke up, naked and vulnerable in a concrete room surrounded by strange people. She had no idea how she got here, or what was going on. Turns out, Tonya was the last player in a sadistic death game. A game where strangers are forced to live in isolation, where they have to solve puzzles hidden everywhere in their surroundings, a killer among them killing them during “curfew” when the lights turn off.

To make matters worse, according to a note left by the facility, there’s 3 “serials” among them: a serial rapist, a serial pedophile, and a serial killer. As the prisoners’ distrust in each other intensified and the game continued, there were eventually just three left: Tonya, Eight and Five. Five would turn out to be the serial rapist and would attempt to assault Tonya but luckily Eight was able to intervene, killing Five while being mortally wounded via a shard of glass being stabbed in him.

Tonya, instead of comforting her bleeding friend, would tear open his stomach with a piece of broken glass betraying her lover (oh yeah, I guess that was a side plot). Turns out this whole time, Tonya was working with the people who run the facility, turning the contestants on each other and killing them when the lights turned off. Her mission complete, Tonya would be dropped off in another room of contestants, causing the cycle of violence to start once again.

Elvis

Radio shows, pranks, such a lovely form of entertainment, but sometimes pranks can go too far, don’t you think?

Elvis, a great guy with a beautiful family consisting of a wife and a daughter. He was the radio host of a well known show of interviews, giving advice to people with problems, until one day a call was made. The guy on the call was named Gary, which Elvis would later realize was an old coworker. Gary would kidnap his daughter and wife and threaten Elvis that he’ll kill them, why did Gary do this? Simple, revenge. Gary had a girlfriend, a sweet woman, until Elvis took the pranks too far and ended up making the girl kill herself, now Gary will destroy Elvis’ life and destroy the building with explosives.

Elvis and the new worker, Dylan, would go and try to find Gary before he exploded the building, killing everyone in it. After a long game of cat and mouse they find Gary and stop him, but he had a last trick behind his sleeve, a bomb detonator. After calming down Gary makes a deal with him: Elvis’ wife and daughter will be saved but Dylan will have the explosives on him. At the end, they accept, Elvis’ family was saved, but they were going to die…

… Until it was all revealed to be a prank. Everything was a well planned prank on Dylan, but he seemed to not take it too well. The workers that helped in the prank try to talk with him, interview him, but he ends up slipping and falling the stairs, dying in the process. After some time, Elvis got out of the building, his boss scolding him, his career ruined… Elvis went to his car and contemplated his future. Now all he can do is just listen to the radio and hear… “Happy Birthday Elvis”? And Dylan was the driver?! It was another prank just to celebrate Elvis’ birthday, now that’s original. Though Elvis will get them back, sooner or later, that’s a promise.

Experience, Skill, and Intelligence

Tonya

Tonya is a skilled manipulator, managing to trick countless rooms into killing themselves. Tonya is skilled at concealing her true nature, managing to constantly pull the “scared, innocent woman” act even after being the first one found next to the victims. This allows her enemies to let their guard down, making it easier for Tonya to kill them off one by one. And while she may initially seem weak when it comes to physical encounters, Tonya has been able to easily overpower and kill contestants when curfew happens and the lights are turned off. It’s worth noting that it’s impossible for contestants to see each other when curfew is going on, showing that Tonya is so skilled that she is able to efficiently kill people while barely being able to see them, all of this quickly enough so that the victims have no time to act.

Elvis

Elvis, despite being an around 80 year old podcaster, has more tricks than you would think. He is able to orchestrate one of the most elaborate pranks ever, staging a whole action movie plot to play out. Elvis has also been seen to be able to manipulate people on the spot, convincing a guy to not kill himself and instead go home to go try to hack people on his computer. Elvis also says that he has “dealt with kooks like this for 30 years” but that is likely an over exaggeration.

Arsenal

Tonya

Electric Collar

These are the electric collars that Tonya and her associates placed on the contestants’ neck. With the help of a coworker of hers, she was able to convince the prisoners that the collar would kill them if they stepped out of the room. It’s unknown if this is actually true (see Before the Verdicts).

Hints

Tonya was able to leave hints everywhere in the facility, sewing distrust among the contestants and manipulating them.

Lighter

A lighter that was given to one contestant, later being taken by Five when they died. It can be used to set things on fire and as a light source.

Recorder

A recorder that is used to record messages. Could be used to create a distraction in the dark.

Handgun

Tonya had a handgun given to the contestants as a way to cause chaos between them. At first the handgun had no bullets, bullets being possessed by another prisoner, but later the contestants came across a basket full of bullets, forever keeping the handgun loaded. For most of the film, Tonya doesn’t possess the handgun, but she should have access to it in this scenario as she was the one who arranged for the objects to be given to the contestants. Also Tonya gains possession of the handgun during the climax of the film and even uses it. Tonya can use the handgun to shoot her enemies, killing them.

Sharp Object

This sharp object was used by Tonya to kill Four, stabbing her in the eye.

Broken Glass

Tonya was able to repeatedly stab One with glass shards that came from a broken mirror. Tonya also uses a glass shard to mortally wound Eight at the end of the film.

Cameras

These are the cameras that the Host and the researchers use to constantly survey the contestants. They can be destroyed.

Poison

Tonya carries poison around with her which can kill someone in mere seconds. She is able to quickly administer it without anyone in the death game seeing her. The poison doesn’t have to be administered orally as another contestant was killed by it, despite never consuming anything suggesting that Tonya can administer it anywhere on an opponent’s body.

Explosive

Tonya and the other contestants were able to make a makeshift bomb that was able to blow up a small wall.

Bottle

Tonya killed Robert, a contestant, with a wine bottle. She did this by shoving it down his throat, choking him.

Kidnapping

Tonya, and the rest of the people behind the death game, are able to kidnap multiple people efficiently. They also sometimes kidnap the contestant’s family in order to coerce them into killing each other, something that the Host did to motivate Ten (seen above) to eventually take his own life.

Sight

Tonya is able to kill people in the dark, specifically so dark they can’t see anything. This implies that Tonya’s eyes are more adjusted to the dark than most people, allowing her to efficiently sneak around and assassinate people when the lights are out.

Curfew

The Host can choose when to trigger “curfew”, an event when the lights in the facility turn off, he triggers this when he believes it would best benefit Tonya, giving her opportunities to sneak around and kill contestants without anyone seeing her. They could effectively do this for as long as they want.

Elvis

Drone

Gary used this to spy on the outside of the building, as a way to check whether or not Elvis jumped.

Fake Blood

In order to make the prank seem as elaborate as possible, Elvis’ crew had fake blood and makeup to properly mimic a corpse.

Bombs (See Before the Verdicts)

Gary placed explosives all over the building and stated that they would be able to blow up the entire building. Though given how the main conflict of the movie was an elaborate prank, it is questionable if they actually were dangerous. More explanation in the Before the Verdicts sections.

“Bomb Detonator”

Gary’s final bluff was a bomb detonator that would blow up all the bombs in the building if he dropped it. This ended up being false as nothing happened when Gary dropped it, revealing the truth regarding the prank to Dylan.

Flower Vase

During the “fight” with Tony, Elvis hit him on the head with a flower vase.

Baseball Bat

Elvis picked up a baseball bat in the climax of the movie to use against his “showdown” with Gary. He never uses this however.

Cameras

Gary has access to the cameras in the building, this allowed him to track Elvis and Dylan’s movements.

“Handgun”

A “handgun” that Elvis took off of the “dead” security guard. Elvis claims that the gun is loaded but this is unlikely. There’s a scene where they give Dylan the gun, Dylan is the only guy not in on the joke and therefore is acting with no script. It’s unlike careful planners such as Elvis to load the gun as it could likely lead to Dylan hurting someone during the event. Also, Gary seemingly shoots a cop point blank in the face with a gun that is shown to have been shooting blanks, showing how guns during the prank were never loaded. Elvis can still use them for blunt damage though and they do fire blanks.

Box Cutter

Before going to confront Gary, Elvis picked up a box cutter as a weapon. He can use this to slash his enemies.

Phone

Elvis has access to a cell phone. It can be inferred that this is a normal cellular device and has a built-in flashlight as well (remember this, it will be important later).

Support

Tonya

The Host

The Host is the one in charge of the facility and is the one who speaks to the contestants through screens and loudspeakers. He is the one who can trigger the Curfew and is working with Tonya, the movie implies how they are actually close work partners. It makes sense that in a combat setting where Tonya is at risk, he would use everything in his power to help Tonya survive.

Two

2 was seemingly the contestant who was electrocuted to death by his collar, but was later revealed to be a scientist that was part of the program the whole time. 2 is able to manipulate the contestants just like Tonya, being able to live with them for an extended period of time without them being suspicious.

Researchers

The researchers work with Tonya and are the ones that are constantly watching the cameras.

Eight

A former cop, Eight is the most moral of the contestants. He and Tonya form a seemingly romantic relationship, albeit she does betray him, so it’s expected that she could have him defend her if needed. He has been seen using the handgun, building the bomb and also was able to fight Six on equal footing.

Six

Six is another contestant and is implied to be the serial killer among them. He is aggressive and hard to work with, but is able to be manipulated if you have him believe an action will result in him living. He notably possessed the handgun and was able to almost beat Eight in a fight before Tonya shot him in the head.

Five

Five is a contestant that was later revealed to be the serial rapist. He is a coward that’s easily influenced. He’s capable of solving ciphers and notably took the lighter when its original owner died.

Robert

Robert was the last contestant added to the game, being a white collar lawyer. He is easily intimidated and was able to be ordered around. He doesn’t do much and was later killed by Tonya.

Other Contestants

While pretending to be a contestant, Tonya managed to form an uneasy alliance with them. It’s worth noting that most of them are convicted criminals and are therefore more formidable than your average man.

Elvis

Dylan

Dylan was the new intern that Elvis staged the prank for. In actuality, it was Dylan pranking Elvis! Instead of being a normal intern, Dylan was a stuntman that was helping the podcast crew pull a birthday prank on Elvis. Being a stuntman, Dylan is able to withstand events that would injure most people, such as being slammed into a table and falling down stairs, hitting his head on a metal pipe. Dylan possesses a gun that fires blanks that he can use to bludgeon people.

Gary

Gary was at first seemingly an evil mastermind, hellbent on tormenting Elvis for causing his girlfriend’s suicide. In actuality, he was an online influencer known for elaborate pranks that teamed up with Elvis to prank Dylan. He’s the one who was able to watch Elvis and Dylan through the cameras and drone and possesses a fake gun that fires blanks.

Sam and Steven

Sam and Steven are Elvis’ coworkers who spend most of the movie pretending to be held hostage by Gary. Honestly, they’re kind of useless bums.

Tony

The best character in not just this movie, but every movie ever. Tony is the self-embodiment of perfection whose presence will flashbang your brain and never leave your mind. Tony was a stuntman just like Dylan and posed as a janitor for the prank. He and Dylan had a “fight” and during it, Elvis hit Tony on the head with a flower vase. Luckily he wasn’t hurt as no one, not even the writers, wanted to hurt this godly hunk of a man. WOOF! WOOF! BARK BARK! AWOOO!!!

Other crew members

Elvis’ other coworkers and crew members aided him in pulling off his prank. Most of them aren’t notable but two of them are wearing fake police gear I guess.

Feats

Tonya

Overall

  • Managed to successfully kill several rooms during the curfews.

  • Managed to turn the contestants on each other, never having them suspect her.

  • Managed to pick off contestants one by one, only leaving behind the ones useful to her.

  • Should be similar to a normal person when it comes to stats.

  • Stabbed an old lady through the eye.

  • Overpowered and killed a guy by shoving a wine bottle down his throat.

  • Stabbed a guy with shards of glass repeatedly.

  • The handgun is capable of easily killing people.

  • The Bomb was able to blow up a concrete wall (Wall Level)

  • Administered poison to a contestant before anyone could see.

  • Kinda hot ngl.

    • but not as hot as Tony.

Elvis

Overall

  • Managed to successfully pull off his prank… before one got pulled on him.

  • Talked someone down from committing suicide in a minute.

  • Should be comparable to a normal person when it comes to stats.

  • Managed to hit Tony on the head with a flower vase.

  • Dylan and Tony are stuntmen that are able to survive being hit on the head with blunt objects and being thrown down stairs.

  • Gary managed to have control of all the cameras.

Weaknesses

Tonya

While Tonya may be a manipulative genius, she isn’t the strongest person. She can be overwhelmed in a fight if her opponent is stronger than her or if several people overwhelm her at once. Also, her teammates aren’t the best at working together since for most of the movie, they all suspect each other of being a killer.

Elvis

Despite how charismatic he acts, Elvis is just a normal guy. He has no combat experience and can be tricked himself, failing to realize that Dylan was tricking him. Elvis also maybe freezes up when witnessing a death, something that won’t help him against someone like Tonya who just needs one opening to win.

Before the Verdicts

Did Elvis use real bombs during the prank?

So during the prank, Gary supposedly set off bombs that would blow up the building. Since it was a prank, it’s unlikely that these bombs were ever real. Elvis, and everyone else who works at the building, likely wouldn’t risk losing their job and potentially dying. Because of that, it’s likely that the bombs are fake.

Did Elvis freeze up?

So one of the main points of contention is whether Elvis froze up during Dylan’s “death”. After seeing Dylan seemingly die, Elvis is shaken and unable to act. The main debate is whether or not Elvis would react the same way to seeing someone else die or if he’s just shaken up by Dylan’s possible demise specifically.

Are the collars deadly?

In Breathing Room, the contestants are all given collars around their necks. The purpose of the collars is to kill contestants, should they try to leave the facility. The problem is, we don’t know if this actually is true. The only example of a collar killing someone is shocking Contestant Two, but we later find out that Two was working with Tonya the whole time and never actually died. It’s because of this that it’s possible that the collars actually do nothing and are there just to deter the contestants from leaving out of fear for their own life.

 Crimgon

This is definitely an interesting matchup. Both characters were really normal people so it was really hard to decide who would win. In terms of stats, both would be pretty even since they are normal people. I guess given his size, Elvis would be stronger than Tonya but not by too much. We do see that Tonya is able to overwhelm people during curfew, so it is possible that she knows strategies to deal with people physically stronger than her. When it comes to their speed, they should be around even. Although we do see some feats that could suggest that Tonya might be a bit faster. We see Tonya outrun Five when he tried to abuse her, we see her administer poison to someone in front of a crowd quickly enough so no one could notice it, and it’s likely that she’s more used to physical activity since she regularly kills contestants in several rooms. Tonya noticeably killed Robert by choking him to death with a wine bottle, showing how she has overwhelmed and killed stronger men in the past. Sure curfew was going on and Robert technically couldn’t see, but just because you can’t see someone choking you doesn’t mean that you won’t be able to resist it. Tonya still would’ve had to subdue Robert in order to shove the wine bottle down his throat. This contrasts with Elvis who we never really see active in the movie. So in an 1v1 fight without any gear, both would be about even. Elvis would likely be stronger but Tonya could keep up thanks to possible experience and her likely better agility and speed. But once again, these two are normal people so it won’t affect the mu too much.

Comparing their arsenals, the debate becomes more clear. For the most part, both of them fight with improvised weapons that come from their surroundings, so most of their arsenal is around equal in quality. I will say that Tonya is more resourceful with what weapons she uses though, such as when she used glass shards to kill Contestant One. So if the battle goes on for a while, I can see Tonya being the one who’s more likely to gain more weapons during the fight, and using them more effectively. But it’s unlikely that the fight would go on for this long as both of the combatants have weapons that are surefire to end the battle quickly.

For Elvis, his trump card is his baseball bat. The baseball bat was the most formidable weapon Elvis picked up and while he never used it against anyone, he likely knows how to wield it. And while Tonya’s household items to kill up close show her more resourceful nature, they aren’t as lethal as Elvis’ baseball bat, the bat being a more conventional weapon and effective weapon. However, Tonya is also bringing a game changer weapon to this matchup: her poison. One of Tonya’s most dangerous weapons is her poison. She can administer this almost immediately once she gets close and it would easily kill Elvis. And Elvis wouldn’t be able to stop Tonya from injecting the poison in him, as the first prisoner that Tonya killed with the poison wasn’t able to react or notice being injected. And the second person to die from it didn’t even inject any, suggesting that the poison doesn’t have to be consumed orally and Tonya knows ways of stealthy administering it. But Elvis’ bat does have a farther reach which could allow them to keep Tonya away no? Essentially when it comes to their close quarters weapons, it depends on how far away they are. If there’s some distance between them, then Elvis would win since the baseball bat has a farther reach. If they are close to each other, Tonya would win since her poison kills in seconds. Because of that, both should be around equal when it comes to close quarter weapons.

But what about their allies? Does that change anything? Tonya definitely has the help of the host, the researchers and Two, but we never see them do anything physically, they’re kind of useless in a fight. Elvis, on the other hand, has two stuntmen (Dylan and Tony) who have experience being thrown around and having objects crash over their heads. And this isn’t including the two guys in police gear which would make it hard to hurt them. So Elvis’ immediate allies are definitely more useful and could definitely beat Tonya. But what if we give Tonya the contestants? It is a little bit iffy if we can give Tonya their help but if we do, this part of the debate becomes closer. Eight and Six are formidable and have been seen to be capable of fighting. They probably aren’t on the same level as Dylan and Tony in terms of tankiness but being the only characters who have experience fighting (Eight even was a cop), they would be able to keep up. This would make it so that both would be even in terms of physicals. Not to mention that Dylan and Tony aren’t necessarily able to just solo Tonya’s team, just because they’re stuntmen, doesn’t mean that they’re necessarily action heroes that can beat up entire rooms of people. The stuntmen are just able to take more damage than other people, but not necessarily deal more damage. Not all stuntmen are the same mind, they don’t all train how to do martial art stunts and Dylan and Tony were specifically trained to just be beat up. And while the stuntmen are tanky, the contestants have actual weapons on their side that could easily allow them to kill any of Elvis’ teammates, and given how some of them are actual murderers, they might actually have the experience advantage. So while the stuntmen are impressive, they aren’t going to be able to change the tide of the fight by that much actually.

If we compare their surveillance options, Tonya’s allies are just better. Gary’s cameras can be destroyed and he isn’t checking them all at the same time, hence Elvis and Dylan being able to interfere with the cameras and all. Tonya, on the other hand, has a whole team of people watching all the cameras at once.

Tonya essentially has several roomfuls of Garys helping her out so she is definitely better off. And given how many researchers there are, Tonya can use some as cannon fodder in the fight if the contestants get beat up, or she could spare some to go track down Gary and eliminate him (or at least distract him for long enough so that Elvis won’t have anyone guiding him for a period of time). Sure Gary has a drone, but it’s not going to be that useful inside a building. Gary could use the drone as an offensive weapon, but nothing is stopping Tonya from just shooting the drone. At best, the drone will be a distraction. In fact, the drone might be a detriment. While Gary is using the drone, he’ll be completely focused on piloting it, keeping him from looking at the rest of the cameras. So Gary would be trading surveillance over a whole building, in exchange for one small camera that can move around. That being said, due to Elvis and his coworkers all possessing phones, they are effectively able to communicate with each other better, making it easier for them to cooperate.

One of the biggest advantages Tonya’s allies give her is the curfew. If the host triggers curfew for Tonya, it’s over for Elvis. Tonya then can sneak up to anyone and kill them. She’s the only one who’s able to see in the dark as well as her so she’ll be in her element when the lights turn off. Not only can she shoot them, but she could also now get close and poison her enemies, Elvis wouldn’t be able to defend with the baseball bat since he wouldn’t know where Tonya is. Tonya could also use the tape recorder to play audio to confuse Elvis of Tonya’s whereabouts, giving her more opportunity to attack. Elvis does have some potential counters to Curfew however, his phone and Gary. Elvis’ phone likely has a flashlight which could allow him to see in the dark and Gary could tell Elvis what is going on over loudspeakers since security cameras have night vision. The problem is that Elvis would have to do them quickly. Once the lights turn off, Elvis has to immediately react or else Tonya just kills him before he can do anything. And while the phone flashlight can allow Elvis to see, it would be harder for him to fight while holding his flashlight in front of his face. Also if Elvis just chose to rely on Gary, he’d always be reacting with a delay. And assuming that Elvis managed to turn his flashlight on and started a witch hunt, Tonya would be smart enough to recognize the threat and would likely play the long game. Hiding from Elvis and his allies, picking them off one by one whenever one strays too far from the group. She has a gun so that would be easy.

Also it’s worth noting how there is a wide gap in their experience and manipulation skills. We never see Elvis fight anyone and he has been shown to be manipulated by others beforehand. Tonya, however, has manipulated and killed several rooms full of people who are already suspicious of each other. I can totally see Tonya successfully pulling the “scared innocent girl” act, causing Elvis to lower his guard. And this is especially likely since Elvis has never killed anyone before and would be hesitant to do so. It’s that moment of indecision that is key to who would win this already close match.

And one of the biggest arguments made against Tonya winning is that her teammates won’t cooperate and might even turn on her. I don’t think this is likely at all. Tonya could easily get the other contestants on her side by making Elvis seem like the killer, which would make sense since a random guy none of them know is suddenly beating up a defenseless woman who’s one of them. There’s also the possibility that the Host could just tell the contestants that in order to escape, they just have to subdue Elvis’ team, they don’t actually have to kill them, Tonya will likely do that during curfew. And while her teammates may not like each other, they at least recognize that they need each other in order to survive. Another argument some brought up is that Tonya would also kill her teammates during curfew, but that doesn’t make sense. Tonya always acts logically in ways that can only benefit her and killing her own teammates and risk potentially being killed? Yeah that doesn’t make sense at all. Tonya isn’t some murder crazy psycho, they have self control and would understand that it’s better to kill her enemies first before killing her allies. And since Elvis has no real experience with death, he would likely be intimated and maybe freeze up when faced by it. We see that when Dylan “died”, Elvis was traumatized and couldn’t move. It makes sense that in a situation where his life is on the line, he may be too overwhelmed to act quickly and logically, which would definitely spell his downfall.

And the main advantage Tonya has is the handgun. The gun just gives her an easy way to win, perfectly countering all of Elvis’ advantages. Elvis has a baseball bat? Tonya can just shoot him. Dylan and Tony are physically the strongest? Tonya can just shoot them. While the gun wasn’t loaded at the start of Breathing Game, by the time Tonya had it, it was. So it would make sense that in a combat scenario where we are giving both combatants all of their gear, it would be in the same state as when they acquired it. Essentially, I believe Tonya should be given her gun while it’s loaded in this debate. Elvis has no way to protect himself from it and it’s unlikely that he’ll be able to take it from her since she’s the more agile and stealthy one. And while Elvis has a handgun of his own, it’s unloaded. Literally nothing is stopping Tonya from shooting Elvis when she gets the chance, and that just nets her the win. Sure Elvis’ fake gun shoots blanks and could distract Tonya, but I think it would actually encourage her to beat him in a quickdraw … which he literally won’t be able to win. Basically the gun ensures a quick victory for Tonya and pretty much counters every advantage Elvis has. Think about it, it’s two regular people and one has a handgun, it’s easy to tell who wins.

Overall, this matchup is very close. Both were around even when it came to physicals and both were even when it came to arsenals, having items that could easily put the other down. Elvis at first seemed like he had better help, with Dylan and Tony being the strongest out of everyone here, but Tonya’s allies were still more than enough to keep up with them and could definitely buy her time to kill them all with the handgun, plus curfew could allow Tonya to kill them all one by one. And while Elvis could eventually counter curfew, the keyword is eventually, Tonya just needs a few uninterrupted seconds to just shoot her opponents, it isn’t that complicated actually. And she could still win without her handgun as she could just poison all of her opponents when they grab her or when curfew happens, and they can’t really react to it as Tonya is able to do this so fast that no one noticed her doing it in front of them. And while Gary can survey the area and give Elvis insight into everyone’s surroundings, he’s only one person and Tonya has several people monitoring the cameras at once, making it so that she basically has a better version of Gary. And this is all before I get into how Tonya is the far superior manipulator, is vastly more experienced and won’t likely panic when confronted by real danger when compared to Elvis. Overall, I find that Tonya has what it takes to quickly and efficiently end the battle, while having ways to counter all of Elvis’ advantages. So in my opinion, the winner is Tonya.

Bored Seba

Okay this debate is just really interesting and legit really fun to cover. Both have similar stats, being pretty much equal, though Elvis is potentially stronger and if he catches Tonya he could win. However, Tonya has a more deadly arsenal that can also kill Elvis. But when we get into their allies, things become way more interesting, since the curfew, cameras etc will also be in play, not to mention there are more people coming into play in this and not just Elvis and Tonya.

Now first thing first we need to talk about Elvis and Tonya’s teammates: the prisoners and Elvis’ friends. Where you can see a major difference between their teams and that's teamwork. Now why do I mention this and how would this all affect the debate? Well simple, Tonya’s team don’t really trust each other very well, and most of the time they are just fighting each other, trying to figure out who's the one killing them, in other words they don't trust each other, something Elvis’ group shouldn't worry about, since they are all friends making there teamwork much much better than Tonya group, but you may be asking, why haven't you mention the company, wouldn't that give Tonya the edge? Well the company itself kinda can't outright help Tonya without breaking the trust between Tonya and her group, which would make it bad for her since her team would be suspicious of Tonya. The curfew could help Tonya without having her trust broken with her teammates where she could kill the people in Elvis' team, and even Elvis himself. However, luckily for Elvis he does have a counter to the curfew, that being the drone, security cameras and his phone, all of which could help him see, though this doesn't mean Tonya is in danger, in fact she does have ways to still kill Elvis. Though something I do wanna mention is the fact Tonya was able to kill all the prisoners with the curfew, which could help her eliminate most of Elvis' team, but also her own team. An advantage Elvis would have is that he has two friends that can pretty much beat most of Tonya teammates who are Tony and Dylan, who are basically the mvp of Elvis team, and potentially giving team Elvis a chance, and like I mention teamwork is also important, since we know Elvis team would work better than Tonya team who would most likely argue with each other. But it is very likely that Tonya could kill most of Elvis' team without effort. It's also likely that her team would turn on each other and probably kill them. Also, I do wanna mention that the bomb Tonya and her group made took a while, so it's possible it's gonna be hard for her or her group to make a bomb.

Now I wanna focus on Dylan and Tony, the stuntmans who in this matchup are probably the strongest here. They could beat Tonya's team and potentially outnumber Tonya if she isn't careful. Aside from Elvis, Tonya should be very careful with Dylan and Tony, but she does have ways to take them out of the occasion: the poison. The poison could easily kill Dylan and Tony, so really if she hits them with that it's over for them, not to mention that Tonya can kill people who are stronger than her with the curfew, which could give her an advantage, But don’t count Elvis out yet, while Tonya does have ways to kill Elvis group and also has a gun that she can use to kill, Elvis has a bunch of ways to distract Tanya, stuff like the drone, the fake gun that shoots blanks, and even the rest of his teammates who can distract Tonya long enough for Elvis to catch Tonya and ending the fight there, hitting her with the Bat or just trapping her temporary as he hits the final blow. And like I said, even with the curfew, Elvis does have counters, and one who's also very important in the form of Gary. He can let Elvis know what's going on with the cameras and the drone, but even despite that, Tonya has the better combat experience compared to Elvis, and she is more of a manipulator than Elvis, but Gary would most likely still let know Elvis on what's going on not to mention Elvis also has some people in Police gear who would be very hard to hurt.

Okay now I want to discuss their weapons, which are also a very important piece in this puzzle. Both Elvis and Tonya do have a ton of weapons, but we know Tonya weapons are deadlier, like the poison, gun, etc… And not to mention some of Elvis' weapons weren't really real, but despite this, he still does have deadly weapons that could hurt Tonya, but Tonya just has an overall more dangerous arsenal. But, like I mentioned earlier, not all hope is lost for Elvis, while some of his weapons aren't that deadly, they can still distract Tonya long enough, and while yes, Tonya will be focused on her goals, she can still be distracted. And with the amount of stuff Elvis has that could distract Tonya, he could buy enough time to get close to her and hit her with a fatal blow. But now some of you can ask “Wouldn't Tonya’s company let her know of what Elvis is gonna do” the answer is yes, but it most likely has to happen after her prisoners die to not expose her identity, something Elvis, like I mentioned, shouldn't worry about as much until Tonya allies die, when Tonya would be more freely be able to reveal her true intentions as she tries to kill Elvis. But even then like I said, she can still be distracted and even if the company could help her by telling her what's going on, so can Gary, who in fact could also use the speaker to counter Tonya’s communication, and give Elvis a slight advantage to attack Tonya, who, while yes she's the better fighter, is still physically weaker. Elvis isn't as great a fighter as Tonya, but if his life is on the line, he's gonna fight back and would most likely try everything to distract her and find a good way where he can hit her with a fatal blow. Tonya could maybe manipulate Elvis or potentially just try to find a good opening, but they both still have weapon that can warned them on what's happening, letting them know on what they need to do, though Gary is most likely gonna use the speakers which could give Elvis the advantage as Tonya wouldn't be able to hear well what the company is trying to warn her.

I also wanna mention the fact that even if Tonya is more deadly than Elvis, she can still get thrown around pretty easily. In fact, she can be stopped very easily in a one vs one. The fact she mostly uses the curfew (where we said Elvis can counter) to kill stronger opponents using her stealth where her opponents aren't expecting it, is something she can't really do here. And it doesn't help she doesn't have the gun most of the time, since Six is mostly the one with the gun. She would most likely have to wait until six dies, since six would not trust her with the gun, which would give Elvis enough time to take her down, even then, even if she gets the gun, he would have everything he needs to distract her, giving him more time to hit a fatal blow and it also doesn't help that while yes both the host and Gary could warned them on attacks, Gary has more ways to counter the host communication, since we know he's good with technology, which would once again give Elvis another advantage.

Also I do wanna discuss the Gary and The Host/the company debate. Both are the ones watching the cameras, the ones that help a lot, and I do get the argument that Gary can't see all the cameras at once but neither is the host, plus like I said, the drone would also help Gary in this situation  which would allow him to distract Tonya a lot of the time. And yes, while the host and the company are very skilled, they were never in any danger since they know they have the control of the situation, bug when you add Gary to the mix, the host and the company wouldn't really have control like they normally do, plus Gary has ways to counter the host communication with the speaker and you can even argue the drone also helps with that, plus wider the drone, it gives Gary more chances to know what Tonya is planning and even distracting her long enough for Elvis to take advantage. I also wanna mention that even if the host cameras are pretty good they can still be destroyed. And while Gary doesn't look at the other cameras while piloting the drone, he still has the drone cameras to warn Elvis about any danger.

Something I also want to mention is something that has been stuck in my head for a while, both Tonya and Elvis are really similar and different in how their stories play out. While Tonya was not much in danger, she still had to worry about her prisoner buddies, the whole plot of the movie is them arguing with each other on who's the killer, and it also doesn't really help that she only kills during the curfew or while someone is distracted or injured, she also focuses on her survival cuz if she isn't careful she can still die, and can get overwhelmed if it's a 1 v 1. Meanwhile, Elvis’ whole thing is a prank, he can fully trust his teammates since he knows they aren't dangerous, while he isn't as great as a fighter as Tonya, he still is focus on whatever problem he is in, plus doesn't help his the better leader to his group and can most likely overwhelmed Tonya when he gets the chance, and would most likely be able to overwhelm Tonya when the curfew isn't getting use.

Now to continue to talk about Gary and the host again, some people have questioned that if the host knows Gary is a big deal, wouldn't he send the other researchers to kill Gary? While it’s possible it's also very unlikely, since the researchers don't really fight, they just do research. The only real ones that can really fight back that we know of is Tonya and debatably two, and with Gary experience on the internet, he would most likely find ways to keep himself safe, making it hard for the host or the company to get Gary, still making Gary a big factor in this debate.

I want to mention something else, let's go back to the teamwork stuff. Could you argue that Tonya could tell the prisoners that Elvis and his team are the bad guys and that could guarantee her team working together? Answer is not really. Even if she can convince some, others are still not gonna fully trust her. People like nine and such, and yes six would at some point attack his team or most likely shoot some of his teammates. Even if he has cooperated before, he will argue with his team, and he views his teammates as a danger, he would only take care of himself. Doesn't help that he doesn't 100% fully trust his teammates,  you can actually say that about most of Tonya’s teammates. So yeah, Tonya really doesn't have any control of what her teammates are gonna do next, since it is possible that they can attack the other teammates of Tonya, something like I said Elvis doesn't have to worry about. Most of Tonya's teammates aren't the best fighters and could also be defeated very easily, and while you could say the same about Elvis, he has a better chance since his team cooperates better, something Tonya doesn't really have aside from the host and the company.

I also wanna mention Tonya's gun again, while he does use it, it isn't her gun, it's six’s gun. She has to wait for six to die or something cuz he isn't gonna give her the gun, and it's also likely he could just backstab Tonya. Even if Tonya gets the gun, it's super likely that Elvis has the weapons he needs to distract Tonya. Also has a big advantage with Dylan and Tony, who can distract Tonya long enough for Elvis to hit her with the Bat or or any weapon. I mentioned this before, but the drone can also easily distract Tonya, and Tonya’s gun isn't fully loaded, in fact it's empty, tho they do have bullets but normally six is just carrying an empty gun, giving Elvis another boy advantage. Like I said, even if Tonya's gun is loaded Elvis has what he needs to distract her long enough, which gives him enough time to hit Tonya with a fatal blow.

I also wanna mention again, the way Tonya kills. Yeah, I mentioned it several times, but I want to discuss it again. Most of her kills is people that are trapped, very injured or just accepted their fate, or just be distracted, something that could be very hard for Tonya when you have people like Tony (the best character), Dylan and even Elvis who can catch her and hit the fatal blow, and with there several ways of distracting her long enough to hit the fatal blow once and for all. With Elvis' better teamwork, it is most likely that people like Dylan and Tony will be able to also distract Tonya long enough to once again give Elvis the opportunity to hit the fatal blow.

Once again I mention this, but with Dylan and Tony, and Elvis himself, can easily tag Tonya into the ground before Tonya shoots the gun. I wanna mention again that Tonya can be distracted. I’ll mention Gary again, cuz even if the host sends researchers to go after Gary, they aren't really fighters and Gary could just find somewhere safe to hide or close the door that he is in. He does have counters to the company communications and like many of Elvis' allies can distract Tonya long enough for Elvis to just hit the fatal blow, or just tag her into the ground before she uses the gun, and it doesn't help that Tonya also has to worry about her teammates. While yes, she can kill them later on, they can still fight her or backstab her in the back, which could also give Elvis another advantage and it doesn't help that Elvis, Dylan and Tony are physically stronger than Tonya. As we saw before, Tonya can be overwhelmed by stronger foes, so this also gives Elvis another advantage. And yeah, she usually kills one by one, not several people at once, even if we use the curfew and tries to kill them, like i said before, Elvis has the counters to the curfew to give him an upper hand and is also a situation where she can't even trust fully her team since they can also betray her, which puts her in a very hard position in this blog.

Now I also wanna mention that yes, we did discuss how Tonya can be distracted, allowing Elvis to approach her, but does she at least have close range weapons that can help her? In a way yes, the problem is that overall in close range, Elvis does have better weapons, plus with Tonya not really able to use curfew to sneak behind Elvis, she has to focus 1 v 1, something Elvis can take advantage of since he's the physically stronger person here. Also doesn't help that his close range weapons are better than Tonya’s close range weapons And Elvis can knock her into the ground or catch her, overwhelming Tonya, giving Elvis the better edge.

Okay now I want to discuss something specifically, and that's if Elvis freezes up when he sees murder. We do see at the end of On the Line that he was very shocked when Dylan “died” and didn't know what to do. Now why did he feel this way? It's most likely him feeling guilty of a guy he thinks he caused the death off, since he did blame himself for that death. Now in a situation like this, I do feel it will be different, since he will know Tonya isn't part of the prank and would most likely try to stop her, and even if some of his teammates die, he would probably get more angry which most likely will make him attack Tonya even more. And even if Tonya puts the collar on Elvis, the collar is most likely fake just made to scare the participants of the death game. While yes, Tonya still had more deadly weapons, Elvis still has what he needs to get an advantage (like distractions, etc) which would most likely help Elvis get the W more times than not. I really think this is close, but I feel like Elvis has weapons that could distract Tonya, has teammates that work better as a team and wouldn't back stab each other in the back, is physically stronger, and has counters to the curfew, so to me the winner is Elvis.

Freddy999M

Hello, Freddy on the line once again, time to see who would survive in the room of Blogs… Damn I need to think of better puns… Anyways-

Since physical stats won’t matter to the debate, I’ll mainly mention experience and arsenal, this is also considering everything they used in their respective movies, now with that out of the way:

Let’s start by the easiest side to decipher: intelligence and experience. Both have a similar range on it. Tonya clearly has killed more people than Elvis, no doubt about that… But is it really fair? All the moments Tonya killed someone was when the curfew started and no one could see anything, and her kills were an old lady that just accepted her fate for some reason, a guy trapped in a chair and a scared newby that was confused and didn’t know well what was going on. While it’s true that Elvis hasn’t shown many fighting moments, he commented that the original idea was for Tony to attack him instead of Dylan. So, one had the place advantage while the other had everything staged, who do I think has more experience in fighting then? Probably Tonya. Tonya, while killing with the lights off and people that were weak at that moment, still has shown some experience in the moment, unlike Elvis who, what a surprise, all of the stuff was staged. The same with intelligence, Elvis is the goat but he is sadly just a normal guy while Tonya probably investigated each contestant well. So the point goes to Tonya.

Now the good stuff! The arsenal!

I’ll start with weapons since this is easy, it’s a win for Elvis, let me explain. At the start of Breathing Room, the gun didn’t have any bullets, this means that the gun would need to be loaded before being shot, and since both are pretty similar in stats without a high difference, Elvis should be able to be fast enough and catch Tonya before she shoots. The glass shards and sharp object.png might bring problems, but Elvis can just use the bat to keep them at a certain distance. The poison and lighter would be useless, since the lighter has a hard time activating the flame and, well, Elvis isn’t dumb enough to drink potion. In Elvis’ case, there is the bat, which is longer than any weapon that Tonya has (except the gun but I already mentioned why it wouldn’t work well). Though I won’t be hypocrite, the cutter and flower vase would be useless unless he throws the flower vase to her head or something. And since the other weapons of Elvis are probably fake, it can’t be used.

Now, to the last part and to decide the winner, the outside help.

Okay… We both know Tonya’s group is bigger, right?... But this is a case of quality over quantity. Tonya doesn’t really have a way to convince them to attack Elvis without the possibility of her being suspected, unlike Elvis that can get help from his team for obvious reasons. While it’s true that Tonya maybe can convince some, they won’t be that helpful and it’ll take time, time that she doesn’t have. In case of the stage control, I think it’s easy, the host just has a bigger control, and Gary doesn’t really have a way to access the room in that scenery. So the host can activate curfew and it’ll be the end of Elvis… Or it would be if he didn’t have a phone and ways to produce light. He can just use the light of the phone to see during the curfew and, while Tonya is fast and used to the dark, both are equal enough to not be that useful.

So, at the end what is my verdict?

Tonya…

Probably loses to Elvis. The arsenal will be enough to take Tonya down, mainly Dylan and Gary would be a bigger help than 2 and the other guys. While 8 is still a cop and can be a big problem, Tonya just can’t convince him unless there is a good reason, and she doesn’t have that time as I said before. While Elvis’ team can obviously be killed by the poison of the gun if they aren’t fast enough, at the end Elvis just has a better team and better weapons.

This was funnily enough the closest blog I participated in, but Elvis' better arsenal and charisma stole the show. End of the podcast:

The winner is Elvis

Advantages and Disadvantages

Tonya

Advantages

  • Has more experience in life threatening situations

  • More manipulative

  • Has better weapons that can instantly grant her the win in both close quarters and ranged combat

  • Curfew would allow her to easily sneak up on Elvis…

  • Tonya’s allies give her better control of the battlefield

  • Tonya’s allies have better weapons, all of which are lethal

  • Has experience fighting someone stronger than her…

Equivalents

  • Overall stats

  • Low IMDB score despite being a decent movie

Disadvantages

  • Likely physically weaker than Elvis

  • Some of her help may choose not to help her

  • Dylan and Tony are better fighters than everyone here

  • … But Elvis would eventually be able to adapt to curfew

  • Could get distracted with some of Elvis weapons

  • … but only when lights are off in curfew

  • Doesn’t have Tony on her side

  • Movie isn’t on Tubi

Elvis

Advantages

  • Likely could beat Tonya in a physical fight…

  • Dylan and Tony are the most physically powerful fighters here

  • Allies have more experience working together

  • Has ways to counter the curfew…

  • And his weapons could distract Tonya long enough for him to hit her with the fatal blow

  • Tony is hotter than anyone on both sides

    • Tony is the best character in all of fiction

  • Actually a cool movie ngl

Equivalent

  • Overall stats

  • Low IMDB score despite being a decent movie

Disadvantages

  • …Tonya could be experienced fighting stronger opponents

  • Is dwarfed when it comes to experience and manipulation skills

  • Tonya has a way deadlier arsenal

  • … But it would take a while to set up

  • Tonya has better control of the battlefield

  • Mel Gibson

Final verdict

So yeah this matchup is really damn close, you can really make an argument for either winning this debate. Both are practically equal at stats and both of their arsenal are pretty similar, either have advantages that the other doesn’t. But at the end, most of us agreed that Elvis had a superior team (and debatably better weapons) to give him the win. It is still subjective so I wouldn’t be surprised if you don’t agree with the winner, but this ends with a clear answer:

Elvis wins this fight! Cut to commercials!

(The only objective thing about this blog is that Tony is the best character ever created)

Tonya: Crimgon

Elvis: Bored Seba, Freddy999M

THE WINNER IS ELVIS

Thanks to everyone who helped work on this blog. This was definitely one of the most fun experiences for all of us and we all hope to do it again. And special thanks to the readers who stuck around to listen to us debate about who would win between these two obscure characters, it means a lot. We hope you enjoyed it!
